Stay-cation~Lake Las Vegas

This weekend I turn 22, and for my birthday my family was going to take a trip down to my Aunt's beach house in Mexico. The week before we were supposed to go, my cousin was staying there and her car got stolen right out of the guard gated community! My Mom just bought a new car so we decided not to chance it. I was really bummed that we weren't going, but McKay surprised me and told me he was going to take me to Lake Las Vegas on Friday night and spend the day there on Saturday. We had such an amazing, romantic time. I don't know how he does it, but every year McKay manages to somehow make every birthday better than the last. He's incredible. We stayed at the Hilton hotel and resort. Our room was stunning, the views were incredible, and we had such a great time. If you live in Vegas or are just vacationing here, I highly reccomend staying at Lake Las Vegas. It is like a mini Tuscany. They have the quaintest little shops, and the tastiest restaurants. You have an amazing view of the lake almost everywhere you go, and you can rent boats and canoes to ride on said Lake. It's just beautiful. We ate at the most incredible stake house called Sunset & Vine. {I will probably be dreaming about my filet minon for the next couple of weeks.} We explored the village, swam at the pool, and just had a relaxing time.

NYC Trip

McKay and I just got back from a trip to NY and we had so much fun! For Christmas last year, McKay's parents gave us two tickets to wherever we wanted in the US so we decided to go to New York City! Here's some pictures from our trip {via iPhone}

We left Friday night on a Red Eye and arrived at around 6:30am in New York. {we were SO exhausted!} we drove through Times Square to get to our Hotel, which was just a couple of blocks away.

After we checked into our hotel, we grabbed some breakfast at Cafe Metro and then headed over to Grand Central Station.

Then, we headed over to the Yankees vs Red Sox game where we bought some delicious hot dogs and watched the Yankees beat the Red Sox which made McKay the happiest man in the world!

The next day, we went to church at the Manhattan Temple, met up with some friends for lunch at a delicious gourmet cafe, walked through Central Park went to the 9/11 memorial, rode a ferry to the Brooklyn bridge and to the Statue of Liberty, and then walked through Times Square where we found "Baked by Melissa" cupcakery! I had been looking all over for it and was so excited to find one! This was definitely my favorite day of our trip.

On Monday, we went shopping down 5th Avenue, went to the Guggenheim Museum, the Empire State Building, China Town, Little Italy, Madison Square Garden, sightseeing, and then dinner at "The National" before heading back to our hotel.
On Tuesday, we walked to Rockefeller Center, watched the ice skaters, did some shopping and sightseeing, and looked through the windows at the Today show before we had to head back to the hotel to check out and go to the airport.

Overall, the trip was amazing! I loved getting away and spending time with McKay. Thanks, to my amazing Mother and Father-in-law, Mike and Lisa for making this trip happen! Love you guys!
